How Our Unique
Wood Plaques are Made
Every
Bite-Me Security plaque is hand made from start to finish. The basic
process begins with cutting each shield from a sheet of high quality
Oak Veneer. Wood shields are then sanded to size and the edges routed
to give them a beveled look. A keyhole slot (for wall hanging) is then
cut into the back of the plaque. This is followed by buffing of the
edges and the application of wood stain. After the stain dries, several
coats of marine-grade urethane with UV protection are applied to the
back of the plaque. Following all of this preparation, the design you
ordered is output on parchment-look paper and expertly affixed to the
plaque. At this point, another coat of urethane is applied - this time
to the front of the plaque. After it dries, the plaque is lightly
sanded and wiped down. These steps are repeated several more times,
until the plaque has a rich, gloss finish. Tight quality control
standards are maintained during every stage of this process to assure
the plaque you receive will not only meet, but exceed your expectations.
Finally,
any hardware option you chose - large brass hook with decorative
medallions or metal yard post - are attached to the plaque prior to
packing and shipment. Every plaque we make comes ready-to-display with
no additional assembly required - whether it will be hung on your wall
or placed outdoors.
